Reflection of a house in a shop-window with stag

This strange photo is not made of two photos, it is only one and the original. This stag is a Christmas decoration in the window of a shop, and the house is on the other side of the street reflecting in the shop window. It is a shop of the street St Louis in Fourmies.

Torchlights procession in Fourmies

I was making a course of german as this torchlight procession pass under the windows of the class-room so that all people were looking at it. I think it is a procession to a Christmas mass in the church St Pierre which is not far away.

Russia in Fourmies

This is the window of a shop or a bank or a hairdresser in Fourmies (I do not remember exactly : it is a window in the main street St Louis). This decoration for the New Year feast is looking very russian and not french! Greetings to our friends of Moscow (there were daily photos there at a time).

Something new...

Yesterday I was in Fourmies and I saw new lamps in old style in the two main shopping streets, rue St Louis and rue Cousin Corbier. This is a picture of the rue Cousin Corbier in Fourmies whith the new lamps. There is also a bakkery on the left for those who are hungry.

Street in Fourmies...

Ambiance of early autumn and "indian summer", in the town of Fourmies. The street you can see here goes from the Place Verte to the Main Street, the street St Louis. The trees you see here (grown in the town!) are chestnut trees from the side of the Green Square (Place Verte).

A view of the Green Square (La Place Verte) in Fourmies at the beginning of the autumn. It is the big place in front of the town hall, which you can see behind the trees. this place is also the market place and on Saturdays, a little time after the market you can see how paper sheet are decorating the ground. Afterwards the workers of the town come and clean it.

Like a tree in the town

There is a famous french song of Maxime Le Forestier whose title is "Comme un arbre dans la ville". It means "Lile a tree in the town...". This chestnut tree grew on the green place of Fourmies (the market place in front of the townhall) like a tree in the town and is in good health although getting autumn colours.

3... Farmacy in Fourmies : 9°C

In France the farmacies have almost now always, a big electronic thermometer which give the temperature, 9°C at the entrance of the night is a relatively high tempearature for the month of February, but the weather is becoming warmer this last years.

272. My every-day road (3) : Waiting at a signalisation red light for works on the road

During about two months (November-December) there were a red signalisation light for cars on my every day road between Sains-du-Nord and Fourmies in cause of works on the road. I had to wait there between half an hour and three quarters hours. Sometimes I took other roads but with the complicated country land small roads web, it was not easier and did not go faster. Here as I took the photo, I was on the first place, but there are still one kilometer of cars waiting behind me. The waiting time at such a red light is always very long, because there is a security wait time after the last car of the other side is passed by. So that I had always to get 3/4 of an hour sooner out of the bed.

270. Christmas in Fourmies

In the same room as we were on the photos just before, the polish dance group of Anor, the Wojtek and the children dance group Les Galopiots, made as a part of it of the descendants of polish people who went to work in the factories of the North of France, were helding a stand where they sold some little things to the benefit of the Telethon. I photographed them just after I told tales and sung from the table beforeon I sat where I told tales and sung. You can see also just before my guitar and the tale books.

243. View on Trieux.

I took this picture near my work place during the lunch pause. You can see behind this pretty garden also the town district of Trieux in Fourmies. Fourmies where I am working just now, and my husband too, is 35 km in the South East of Pont-sur-Sambre.

238. Panorama on Trieux.

This picture was made on a side street leading to the car entrance of my college (secundary school where I teach). The college is built on a hill over the Helpe mineure which flows though Fourmies on the North edge of the valley. Trieux, the town district of Fourmies whose church one can see on the picture is also on the hills of the North edge on Fourmies. It is a worker's town district. In the town district of Trieux, there is another college. The electric wires are those of the railway which is passing near the college, so that like cows do also, we can look at the trains. The railway is here on the same high like the college and goes thereafter over a big bridge which pass the Helpe Valley (the Helpe Mineure is there in the underground of the town) and one of the largest street of the town.

108. The Eurowalkers in Fourmies.

In Fourmies 200 pupils who are learning german in the Primary Schools (from 6 years old until 11 years old) made a show in german with the help of 40 pupils of a primary schools which made english. They played a theater piece about Europa with one english and many german children songs. They traveled in this piece in other european countries and in Egypt and Turkey. It was organized by the association Fourmies-Bernburg. There were also during a week an exhibition about Germany and other countries in the European Union. The pictures here above show the different drawings children made for a competition to make the advertising for the show. The collage on the picture below with another picture with many speaking mouthes won the competition.

44. A Crossroad in the midtown of Fourmies

This is a crossroad in the center of Fourmies.. Here you can see on the right the house of Europe. Its name is "Maison de l'Europe de la Grande Thiérache". There you can have courses of german with... (Psst!!!) every saturday afternoon, in the room under the sign-boards.

43. Evening ambiance in Fourmies

This is a crossroad in Fourmies. The photo is taken from the window of the Europe House.

You can see the little red clouds in the evening sky and the lot of cars that are riding here.

In summer, when I make my course and that the window is open, it is an awful noise on the street. You can hear the cars which are making noise during the weddings and the noise (tüü...tüü...) of the ambulances and of the cars for the help to the sick persons (the firemen have a duty of help for the people, not only for fire, but also for accidents or sickness, and their cars come often along this windows).

In the back-ground you see the clouds with the evening colours.

38. Le four à bois à Fourmies.

To-day it's the first time I send a pic that isn't from Pont-sur-Sambre, but of an other town of the Avesnois. It's the window of a bakker's shop. In the Main Street of Fourmies is 35 km in the South-East of here and all in the South-West of the department "North" (Nord).
