Church between two willows

On this picture you can see in the right sad weather the church of Pont-sur-Sambre, and the town district of Quartes (a part of it) between two willows. You can find the same place at the beginning of the blog (February 2006 in the Archives). But it was a photo with leaves on the trees (an elder one). The photo is taken from behind the Cité Notre-Dame.

Church of Sémeries

Here you can look at the stepple of the church of Semeries, a village lying northly of the road from Sains-du-Nord to Avesnes-sur-Helpe. It would have been a good photo for the theme day about the colour red in cause of the walls of red bricks which are the main building material here with the blue stone of the Avesnois. Almost all churches here are catholic ones and also this one.

233. The church tower of Sebourg.

Here is the church tower of Sebourg. It is the same church like on the photo of the message of yesterday. Some parts of it are of the 12th century.

232. The church of Sebourg.

I choose Sebourg as place for a few photo for you, because there, there is a very old church from which some parts are of the 12th century. And this although Sebourg is more in the Valenciennois as in the Avesnois. It is northly from Le Quesnoy and in the south-east of Valenciennes.

115. Joan of Arc in the Church of Recquignies

There is no giant with Joan of Arc although she could be one, as herold of the village of Domremy in the Lorrainne. But here she is not in Domrémy and not in the Lorraine, but in the church of Rocquignies. Roquignies is in the Aisne but one kilometer away from Avesnois and sometimes on the roads around you do not no if you are in the Aisne or in the North. Joan of Arc is also the name of many french private schools. It is also an emblem for a nationalist political party which I do not like. It is not good to have taken one of the most popular saint woman of France to make of it the symbol of a political parti, because now she is no more an herold of all. Joan of Arc played a role during the hundred year war during the 14th/15th centuries. It was a war between France and England. I apologize to remember at this war to my english friends of the daily photo blogs, because it was a war between England and France, but it is now a long time ago and over. But I am not of these long past times.

11. Church of Pont-sur-Sambre.

The church of Pont-sur-Sambre (Notre-Dame de Quartes) in the evening, seen out of a hole between evergreen trees from the "Cité Notre-Dame".

Die Kirche Notre-Dame de Quartes in Pont-sur-Sambre am Abend, aus einer Lücke zwischen immergrünen Bäumen der Cité Notre-Dame gesehen.

L'église Notre-Dame de Quartes vue d'un trou entre deux conifères de la Cité Notre-Dame.

Tout comme la Tour, l'église Notre-Dame de Quartes qui date du XVIIème siècle est inscrite au registre des monuments hisotriques.

Our Lady of Quartes is written on the list of french historical buildings.

Notre-Dame de Quartes ist in Frankreich als historisches Gebäude aufgelistet.

7. Church(es) and Shadows...

It is a second shadow play, but this time with the church of Pont-sur-Sambre. Suddenly I became four churches on the message, and I find it well so. I find it looks like in a film. Isn't nice ?
