A new bridge between Pont-sur-Sambre and Bachant

Hello!

No photo of me in this message, but news about Pont-sur-Sambre.

Since a long time, the old bridge between Pont-sur-Sambre and Bachant was closed, because it was too dangerous, especially for pedestrians, because it had holes and you could fall in the water.

This week at the 21th september, the new bridge is opened, not larger than the old bridge, only one car can pass on it, but it is new!!!!!

Here you can see through the autumn trees the blue bridge or Pont de Quartes in the morning light and in the morning mist. In Pont-sur-Sambre, of course! I took the photo this morning.

257. The work place of the new railway bridge

At this place you could look a few weeks before on this houses and on this place with some bushes which were looking well in their autumn clothes, but now you are looking at a grey ground whereon they are building the new bridge over the railway. The old bridge was not enough wide. Finally they decided to build a second bridge near the first one. But they pulled down about twenty houses to build this bridge.

I took this photo from the street.

256. The houses are no more.

Here I made a photography of houses which had no more to be (in October). A few weeks afterwards this houses were no more to make place to build a second bridge next to the first to take the half of the cars and trucks riding on the bridge.

219. The cement bridge upon the railway.

This cement bridge is about four kms far from here. It stands in Aulnoye-Aymeries. Like you can see, it is not so large like the road, so that they decided to make a new bridge at the left side of this one to let go the cars which are riding in the other direction. I don't know exactly when was built the cement bridge over the railway (the only bridge in Aulnoye-Aymeries where you can drive or go over the railway). The other passage over the railway is a double level crossing where one must wait a very long time called the passages à niveau de Cayenne. Since the seventies I live in this region of the North, and they are still speaking to make a new bridge instead of the level crossings there too. However they are making here much new things : a new college, a new bridge, and so on... It is much for this little town of about 10 000 inhabitants.

I must say something about the houses on the left. At the time I write the blog, there are no more there... they were demolished a few days ago so that I have to take now the same photo without the houses !
