Ways and Memory....
The Natural Park of the Avesnois is a touristic aera, so that you find sometimes sign-boards like this one, about Ways and Memory, it is written "Fagne et Bocage". Bocage is a typical meadow and hedges landscape. Hedges are not only to avoid that the cows, horses and sheep escape, but is also a good protection against wind. The Fagne called Venn in Germany, is a typical high plain landscape, where some plants like heather can bloom. It is a landscape with high herbs and little bushes. And wood. We can find it in the East of the Avesnois at the borderline of Belgium and it goes then higher to the small mountains Ardennes, and at the other side of the Ardennes, the mountains in the South of Belgium, you find the High Venns or in french Hautes Fagnes, called in german also Hohes Venn.
